Nothing has changed...

These black experts are wrong if they believe anything has changed. Barack Obama is 50% white. To call him black is truly referring to the color of his skin. Didn't MLK say we should not do that? This country is not ready for a "black president" such as an Al Sharpton or a Jesse Jackson. Obama will determine if a "black president" is in the foreseeable future...

Obama is intelligent, speaks well, looks nice. He speaks in sentences and paragraphs not like our current white president. Unlike the previous "black" contenders for the office he does not speak in rhymes nor does he chase ambulances....

If it was not for George and Dick, this country would not have taken a chance on a fellow who has done nothing in his life except write books telling the world how great he is. Thanks George and Dick...

CNN teenage girls avoid security checkpoint...

Allowing the government to turn our capital into a police state goes against everything this country holds sacred. The Secret Service has to be reigned in. They do not run this country they SERVE this country. Don't forget they could not stop someone from throwing TWO shoes at our president. Where was the secret service between shoe number 1 and shoe number 2.

And all for naught. CNN is interviewing a group of teenage girls who found a way to avoid the security checkpoints..Good job Secret Service.... Teenage girls can outsmart the Secret Service. Makes me feel real safe.

To late to lower expectations...

All the experts, black experts, telling us we must be patient, that Obama cannot solve our problems overnight. Too late!!! He promised the world and his supporters who have no idea what he stands for and against and many who believe Sarah Palin was hist vice president selection have their hands out and want what Obama promised. They want their car. They want their welfare check. They want their house. They want. They want. They want. Obama promised and now it is time to deliver.

Obama's approval rating will drop by at least 20 points by the end of February and who knows possibly more.

Letter to Sens Corker/Alexander and Rep Roe - Security

Security is on everyone's mind these days. Security for the new president, the previous presidents, the country and on and on but you as part of the Legislative Branch must bring sanity and our Bill of Rights back into the considerations.

Congress has failed to uphold the Constitution. This hallmark of failure is too common a practice by many who are supposed to be representing the people.

Rushing to their 2007 summer recess, Congress sold out the Constitution to cover their backsides while keeping THE people mostly in the dark. Collapsing to pressure from the White House (a White House determined to walk all over the Constitution) congress passed the Protect America Act of 2007. The title alone should be enough to cause the people to tremble.  As you know the act bypasses the fourth amendment by authorizing open-ended surveillance of American's overseas phone calls and emails without the need for a warrant or security justification. It has been called "power without responsibility or accountability."

It relies on subterfuge, secrecy, and propaganda for its strength.

Invoking "state secrets" and "national security" runs in the face of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

It is time security protect the people from the Government and you and your fellow legislators must get involved. And I encourage you to do so.

Stop Already

Allowing the government to turn our capital into a police state goes against everything this country holds sacred. The Secret Service has to be reigned in. They do not run this country they SERVE this country. Don't forget they could not stop someone from throwing TWO shoes at our president. Where was the secret service between shoe number 1 and shoe number 2.

Change should mean no executive orders

If Obama wants to be seen as an icon of change he must rely on the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch more than he does on Executive Orders.

Missing the Story

I believe you are missing the story:

That the Secret Service is being allowed to lock-down the city of Washington DC without the president declaring Martial Law. This is unconstitutional and threatens our freedom and you talk and talk and talk and do not say anything.

Second Barack Obama is 50% white. To call him black is truly referring to the color of his skin. This country is not ready for a "black president" such as an Al Sharpton or a Jesse Jackson. Obama will determine if a "black president" is in the foreseeable future...

Barack Obama our only bet..

During the campaign for President, because John McCain was considered to be more conservative that Barack Obama, any Republican who did not enthusiastically support John McCain showed them selves to be just complainers with no solutions. John McCain was their best bet.

Also during the election, because Barack Obama was considered to more liberal than John McCain any Democrat who did not enthusiastically support Barack Obama showed them selves to be complainers with no solutions. Barack Obama was their best bet.

Any American who does not enthusiastically support Barack Obama shows them selves to be just complainers with no solutions. President Barack Obama is our best bet for our nation to recover its standing in the world and to rebuild a healthy economy. We all need to support President Barack Obama. He is our best bet. He is our only bet.

Miss B. I wonder what killed thee?

How would Miss B, a dog that wandered around in our community, develop cancer? What is to prohibit each of us from developing the same cancer?

In the next ten years twenty million Americans will be diagnosed with cancer. Twenty million means one out of every fifteen people. It might be a reflection of an aging population but the most dramatic increases in cancers are among children and young people. This is because they are smaller and have greater exposure to new toxins. The continual increase in cancer cases cannot be dismissed as a statistical fluke. It is a part of a greater problem: environmental illnesses on a global scale. Each new case should be viewed as a "canary in a coal mine."

An increase in cancer among pets is a sign that something is subtly and quietly poisoning us. Many of us own dogs and cats that live in our homes and ride in are cars. They drink the same water and breathe the same air as us. The result: they also have skyrocketing rates of cancer. Rover's biggest nemesis used to be a speeding automobile; now it is a tumor. The cancer rates of some "indoor" dogs have tripled in the past thirty years. To date, the reaction of animal doctors is the same as that of people doctors: build more hospitals and offer more chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation treatments. Instead of looking for a cause, we are focusing on the cure. We have forgotten our grandmothers' axiom: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Reports show more than seven hundred man-made toxins can be found in human tissues. Each new chemical and every pound of exhaust added to the atmosphere is an experiment in just how much we, and the planet, can withstand.

Goodbye, Miss B. I wonder what killed thee? Maybe we all should wonder?

Letter to Senators Alexander and Corker

Letter to Senators Alexander and Corker:

As a senator your responsibility lies with the people not your co-senators. Senators voting that Hillary Clinton be approved as Secretary of State should know the public recognizes that as Secretary of State, traveling at taxpayer expense, she will be free to solicit contributions for her bank account and for her husband's Foundation worldwide.

The public has the perception that once politicians go to Washington they believe themselves to be an elite group that believe the rules don't apply to them. Voting that Hillary Clinton represent the United States as Secretary of State or any office just encourages that perception.

Martin Luther King talked about good people who do nothing. Good people doing nothing means they are no longer good people. Members of Congress need to keep that in mind when they vote to continue past practices and support those who practice them.

I encourage you to vote "NO!" on Hillary to become her husband's primary fund raiser and seller of influence.

Pelosi's Toy Story

In the 1970s Ohio lawmakers, in their zeal to protect children passed a law requiring vehicles with wheels greater than a specified diameter stay off the sidewalks. The law required that "big wheels" the favorite of children 5, 6, 7-years-old be ridden in the streets. Much safer.

When will we learn government cannot protect us; it cannot help us; it can only take our money and hurt us?

Can you imagine if those geniuses we call Senators and Representatives pass a long declaring the fetus to be a human being, which we already know that it is, a woman having a miscarriage will be investigated and prosecuted and imprisoned for manslaughter and possibly homicide.

Comment to our Senators and Representatives: Stop passing laws, stop taking bribes, cancel your health plan, cancel your pension, go home and leave us alone….

Don't Ask Don't Tell

Obama may believe he will make policy but the members of the military will make the final decision. If heterosexual members of the military are not comfortable serving with homosexuals, a major drop in enlistments and re-enlistments will decide the Obama policy.

Letter to Dollywood..

An unsolicited suggestion:

On January 9th 2008 The Mountain Press printed an article concerning steps Dollywood was taking in the face of a weakening economy. The article reported the four top executives with the company will take a 5 percent pay cut this year, and pay for all park hosts has been frozen. Freezing the poverty level wages of the employees while cutting senior executives 5% is hardly equal with what is expected, no demanded, of those employees.

The faces of Dollywood are the poverty level paid employees not senior management. Loyalty is earned not demanded and if you want to continue to enjoy loyalty of your employees, assuming you have it, making their lives more difficult is not the way. Taking the unpopular step of freezing hourly rates is not necessary. You can control wages paid by the hours scheduled. The people not being scheduled understand but they do not understand their hourly rate being the same as last year. They feel unappreciated and they are correct.

The four top executives are being compensated for their past performance as well as the parks past performance. If the compensation of the four top executives goes up when the park does well their compensation should go down when the park does not do as well. If you expect Dollywood to perform at the same rate as it did in 2000 the four top executives should be compensated at the 2000 rate with bonuses if the park's performance exceeds expectations. But always comparable with the compensation received in the past for comparable park performance. Reducing the salaries of the four highest paid employees by 5% is silly. If each of the 4 receives $100,000 that will be a $5,000 reduction all the way to $95,000 for the next twelve months a combined savings of $20,000 hardly noticed by the park, with a reduction in income taxes and social security taxes hardly noticed by the manager as well.

If you do not like the 2000 rate of compensation how about something helpful like 30%-40% reduction? For the 4 senior managers that would be a combined $120,000-$160,000 reduction, possibly a more meaningful number and evidence the hourly paid employees are not carrying the weight of the problem on their shoulders. Talk about camaraderie everyone celebrating the good times and everyone sharing in the hard times.

A 5% is PR but not much else and appears to blame the parks problems on those who can least afford it. And the public knows it. Be careful how the public sees Dollywood management.

How Much Are You Willing to Pay?

How much of your pay check are you willing to dedicate to supporting people who repeatedly refuse to abide by the same laws you abide by? In some cases their refusal to abide by those laws permit them to live in such a manner as to make your standard of living look like a trash heap. How much are you willing to contribute to the criminals? While incarcerated are you willing to give them a scholarship for a college education? Free to the criminal while you and your children have to pay and in some cases due to the lack of money cannot attend college? The criminal can, on your dime but your children cannot. How about entertainment while incarcerated? How about cable TV, how about the Playboy channel or similar to those who prefer members of the same sex? So how about that number?

When we were just thirteen colonies it was probation or hanging. A second crime committed with those as the only options resulted in hanging. What is so wrong with that. Society needs to protect itself....

The Partys Over -- Linda Monk

The Crash of 2008, which is now wiping out trillions of dollars of our people's wealth, is, like the Crash of 1929, likely to mark the end of one era and the onset of another.

The new era will see a more sober and much diminished America . The 'Omnipower' and 'Indispensable Nation' we heard about in all the hubris and braggadocio following our Cold War victory is history.

Seizing on the crisis, the left says we are witnessing the failure of market economics, a failure of conservatism. This is nonsense. What we are witnessing is the collapse of Gordon Gecko ('Greed Is Good!') capitalism.

What we are witnessing is what happens to a prodigal nation that ignores history, and forgets and abandons the philosophy and principles that made it great.

A true conservative (Rep or Dem) cherishes prudence and believes in fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets and a self-reliant republic.  He believes in saving for retirement and a rainy day, in deferred gratification, in not buying on credit what you cannot afford, in living within your means.

Is that really what got Wall Street and us into this mess -- that we followed too religiously the gospel of Robert Taft and Russell Kirk? 'Government must save us!' cries the left, as ever.

Yet, who got us into this mess if not the government -- the Fed with its easy money, Bush with his profligate spending, and Congress and the SEC by liberating Wall Street and failing to step in and stop the drunken orgy?

For years, we Americans have spent more than we earned. We save nothing. Credit card debt, consumer debt, auto debt, mortgage debt, corporate debt -- all are at record levels. And with pensions and savings being wiped out, much of that debt will never be repaid.

Our standard of living is inevitably going to fall. For foreigners will not forever buy our bonds or lend us more money if they rightly fear that they will be paid back, if at all, in cheaper dollars. We are going to have to learn to live again within our means.

THE PARTY'S OVER!

Up through World War II, we followed the Hamiltonian idea that America must remain economically independent of the world in order to remain politically independent.

But this generation decided that was yesterday's bromide and we must march bravely forward into a Global Economy, where we all depend on one another.

American companies morphed into 'Global Companies' and moved plants and factories to Mexico , Asia, China , and India , and we began buying more cheaply from abroad what we used to make at home: shoes, clothes, bikes, cars, radios, TVs, planes, computers.

As the trade deficits began inexorably to rise to 6 percent of GDP, we began vast borrowing from abroad to continue buying from abroad.

At home, propelled by tax cuts, war in Iraq and an explosion in social spending, surpluses vanished and deficits reappeared and began to rise. The dollar began to sink, and gold began to soar.

Yet, still, the promises of the politicians come.

Barack Obama will give us national health insurance and tax cuts for all but that 2 percent of the nation that already carries 50 percent of the federal income tax load.

Who are we kidding?

What we are witnessing today is how empires end. The Last Superpower is unable to defend its borders, protect its currency, win its wars, or balance its budget.

Medicare and Social Security are headed for the cliff with unfunded liabilities in the tens of trillions of dollars.

What we are witnessing today is nothing less than a Katrina-like failure of government, of our political class, and of democracy itself, casting a cloud over the viability and longevity of the system.

Notice who is managing the crisis. Not our elected leaders. Nancy Pelosi says she had nothing to do with it. Congress is paralyzed and heading home. President Bush is nowhere to be seen.

Hank Paulson of Goldman Sachs and Ben Bernanke of the Fed chose to bail out Bear Sterns but let Lehman go under. They decided to nationalize Fannie and Freddie at a cost to taxpayers of hundreds of billions, putting the U. S. government behind $5 trillion in mortgages.

They decided to buy AIG with $85 billion rather than see the insurance giant sink beneath the waves. Unelected financial elite is now entrusted with the assignment of getting us out of a disaster into which an unelected financial elite plunged the nation.

We are just spectators.

What the Greatest Generation handed down to us -- the richest, most powerful, most self-sufficient republic in history, with the highest standard of living any nation had ever achieved -- the baby boomers, oblivious and self-indulgent to the end, have frittered away.

Added Comments:

How do WE THE PEOPLE put the villains who are responsible under oath and sit them down at public hearings to determine whose necks should meet the guillotine?

WE THE PEOPLE should be on the elevated platform in judgment and execution of the likes of Henry Paulson Jr, Secretary of the Treasury,

Alan Greenspan & Ben Bernanke -- Chairman Federal Reserve, and Christopher Cox, SEC Chairman, and the rest of the band of thieves and conspirators who share in the responsibility for the financial collapse of the USA.

Hypocritically, those who had oversight responsibility such as Senator Chris Dodd [Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee] and Barney Frank [Chairmen, House Financial Services Committee] who helped get us into this mess are on every TV channel voicing their righteous indignation and pompously sitting on their elevated platform glaring down at those they are chastising and grilling, trying to pass the blame to others.

But not to worry -- YOUR PUBLIC SERVANTS, when proven guilty, will take their self-awarded Golden Parachutes and Congressional Retirement, give WE THE PEOPLE the finger one last time, and head for their safe havens as the World Citizens they are.

However, before they waddle off into the sunset, they will go on record one last time denouncing corporate greed, lavish salaries, and bonuses for their key felons at Fannie May, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers & AIG.

Meanwhile, WE THE PEOPLE fiddle while Rome burns and we're too lazy, too uninformed, and too indifferent to vote them out of office.

True Colors

When Ann Coulter refused to support John McCain, who is closer to being a conservative than Obama is, she showed herself to be a complainer not a conservative.

Now that the Democrats are in charge they no longer need black people's vote so they look for ways to keep Roland Burris from taking his legally appointed seat in the United States Senate.

They will be embarassed when they find out the governor of Illinois did nothing illegal, just crude...

Hamas vs Israel

The definition of the term civilian is one not in the armed services or the police force. The definition of the term combatant is a person engaged in fighting. The definition of combat is armed conflict, battle; struggle, contest.

In war, there are no noncombatants. Anyone, providing support of any form including moral, weapons, ammunition, transportation, medical, food, etc is engaged in the conflict. Killing people behind the battle lines works. The
United States proved that in WWII when we dropped the atomic bombs on Japan. Do we believe our carpet-bombing in Germany and in Viet Nam
was selective? We killed men, women, children, pets, farm animals, and destroyed buildings, houses, roads, bridges anything within range of the bombs.

In
Viet Nam
, the enemy would leave babies in the sun by the roadside booby trapped with hand grenades. If our soldiers attempted to show compassion, they died. Eight-year-old girls can kill as easily as a twenty-five year old man can. No one is exempt. Until we are willing to wage war like our enemy, we cannot win. Until we are willing to kill hundreds of people just to get to one, we cannot win, so we should quit.

In
Gaza, anyone providing support of any form involves himself or herself in the combat and is therefore legitimate targets. The Gaza people made Hamas part of their government therefore as part of the Gaza government anything Hamas does; they do as representatives of the Gaza people. With Hamas acting for the Gaza people all Gaza people living within the borders of Gaza are legitimate targets. Since the government of Israel is synonymous with the Jewish religion, all Israelis, within the borders of Israel
, are legitimate targets.

Anyone providing support to the
United States' troops in Iraq or Afghanistan or "on terror" are legitimate targets. War is terror. Freedom fighter or terrorist is in the eye of the beholder.

Oprah is out of touch with her audience

So Oprah gained weight. Her mistake is being out of touch with reality. What does an over-weight, billionaire who has access to all the special food, trainers, dietitians, doctors, etc have in common with the normal overweight woman in her audience?

What world does she come from?

She shacks up and thinks her audience is as immoral as she is? Interesting denial.... She should explain how she keeps her man in his place.... She should explain to the daughters of her audience why she prefers to shack up instead of marrying. Can't be financial because my guess is palimony comes into play with Stedman...

Welch Rules

Face Reality: Leaders who avoid reality are doomed to failure. Simple as that.
Having faced reality, act on that reality. Too many leaders prefer to dwell on reality as they define it, but they operate under an illusion. Those who truly face reality cannot stop there. They must act on that reality and adapt their strategies to that reality.
Face reality and there's a chance you can succeed. Stick your head in the sand and there's no question that you will fail. Facing reality may be the hardest thing a leader ever has to do. But it's essential.
