Yuliya Tymoshenko

Yuliya Tymoshenko, Ukraine's Prime Minister, was named the third most powerful woman in the world by Forbes in 2005.. Tymoshenko was a successful business-woman in the gas industry, As Ukraine's Prime Minister, she has been openly critical of Russia and its government and has been called the Joan of Arc of Ukraine.

I wonder is the media thought she had experience?

Absentee Senators Barack and Hillary

Obama has been an absentee senator for 2 years apparently the pro-Obama media consider him qualified to do whatever he wants to do.  We have been placing black people in positions for which they have little qualifications and called it affirmative action. If you listen to the old boy network you might believe they are the only people with experience. What experience does Hillary have, that is a benefit to her being president or being a senator? What experience has anyone in congress received for the past 12 years? They have done nothing….

McCain will win in November in a landslide.

No One Has The Experience

On the question of experience no one has experience to be president. The job has evolved into a monster. The question to be resolved is who has the ability to attract good people in their administration as well as good advisers. The "commander-in-chief" will rely on the military as he or she should.

Look at Harry Truman. FDR kept him arms length but Harry did fine. Neither Obama nor McClain has the experience required and neither do Biden or Palin but can they attract good people to work with them and will they listen to them......

Sara Palin vs Joe Biden

Well John McCain got Barack Obama and Joe Biden out of the headlines.... Hillary made 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling and a 1/2 black man popped through and now a white woman may pop through. Thank you Hillary.

The top dog on the democratic ticket has experience in state legislature and a couple of years as an absentee senator running for president. The second place on the Republican ticket has experience as a mayor and a governor.

This is going to be great but McCain's going to win in a landslide.....

Politicians take heed!

Politicians need to understand the American people will accept mistakes. After the Bay of Pigs debacle President Kennedy stood up in front of the American people and admitted his decisions were mistakes. He and his staff had thought it through but they still came up with a bad plan. He said this was not to deflect responsibility; he was the responsible person in the government. Like Harry Truman's "the buck stops here." Kennedy's approval went up. The American people will accept mistakes BUT they will not tolerate being lied to.....
Politicians take heed!!!!!

The Republican platform calls for a Constitutional amendment banning “gay” marriage.

Throughout the Bible one can easily find that God condemns homosexuality and promises that those who participate in such will not be among those saved. Condemnation of adultery and fornication as well as a host of other sins are also easily found along with similar promise.

Christians have selected homosexuality to detest more than other sins. And because of that selection Gay Marriage will eventually become the law of the land.

Why do Christians abhor homosexuals but not adulterers or fornicators or other "sinners?" Could it be Christians fear homosexuality and envy those who can "get away" with adultery or fornication?

Those who "play the game" and marry but divorce and marry and divorce and marry several times are practicing serial adultery. Christians celebrate such acts by idolizing the participants. Today's Christians are no different than the Christians in Corinth who were proud of their tolerance of the man who had his father's wife.

Instead of being selective Christians must "Abstain from every form of evil."

As long as our "Christian" country permits adulterers and fornicators to enjoy the same legal benefits as married couples, homosexuals must and will be permitted the same benefits.

If Christians want to change the world we must vote AND tell the people the Good News about Jesus. We cannot expect the "world" to think the way we think without the same background, a faith and belief in Jesus being the son of the living God…..

Black vs White

Barack Obama is the first 1/2 black and 1/2 white man or woman to receive the nomination of a major political party for a national office. That does not mean anything has changed. The Jesse Jacksons and the Al Sharptons are still unacceptable. If Obama thinks as they do or he trys to push "afirmative action" in his administration he will find out very quickly how nothing has changed. Even if Obama wins he will not be the first black person to be president. He will be the first "mixed" race or mulatto, not black.

Hillary and her Roll Call

I originally thought Hillary convincing Obama to let her have a roll call vote was trickery on her part and an attempt to wrestle the nomination away from him. But in practice I believe it was a mistake. It showed the world how badly she was trounced. The 'cracks' in the glass ceiling were for naught. 18 million cracks and a black guy popped out. How devastating to Hillary and her hubby.

Actually a 1/2 black guy popped out. He is as much white as he is black.....

From Whence Will The Workers Come II

Gatlinburg City Commissioners
Gatlnburg City Manager
President of GGF

Concerning the $500M development has anyone given any thought to where the workers will come from?

I believe some major chains have declined Gatlinburg because they did not believe they could staff their stores.

Gatlinburg has no affordable places for hundreds and maybe thousands of additional workers to live. Currently there are a good number of businesses in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and maybe even Sevierville who do not have full staffs. With the new businesses starting up on 66 and at exit 407 how many people will journey to Gatlinburg to work? The people from the Middle East can bring their own people and Gatlinburg can be the second largest collection of Muslims in North America. Might want to think about it...

Was she lying then or is she lying now

Hillary Clinton's speech at the Democratic Convention was supposed to convince her delegates to switch to Obama. The Republican campaign used some coments she made about Obam during the primaries. On one of the talking-head shows Governor Bill Richardson was asked about her comments and he said, I will paraphrase, "that was during the primary and we all say things because we have to but Hillary really supports Obama now."

As they ask on the "court" shows, was she lying then or is she lying now?

Train Wreck

Watching the Democratic Convention is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You can see them throwing the election one step at a time. Obama is proving to be just another politician. Mrs Obama just sticks in the face of the voter, she is rich because she is married to a politician. And both Obamas while they are intelligent and able they probably got their opportunities via affirmative action which separates them from the Caucasians. If you look at how Bush won Mccain does not need blacks or Hispanics or women in great numbers.

Obama

Obama was popular in the beginning of the primaries because he was seen as a change agent. He speaks intelligently, not like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, and he looks nice 1/2 white.

Just watching his income and his wife's income make major jumps proves he is just another politician. No change. His wife getting significant increases in her income can be explained only that she is married to a politician.

The Obamas are no more honest or ethical than the Chenys. Remember how many boards Mrs Cheny is on while her husband is VP. The Obamas have no ethics so Obama is toast. John Mccain will win in a landslide. Not because of race or gender but because there is no reason to vote for Obama.

Wal-Mart

If you shop at Wal-Mart you are an enabler like the rest of us. But Wal-Mart using child labor is good. Better having a 7-year-old girl working 14 hours a day for $0.50 an hour than having that same girl walking the dirt streets in her village for 14 hours a day with the perverts who may have a preference for 7-year-old girls.......

We already have national health insurance

What else would you call it when Wal-Mart builds a family fortune closing in on $100Billion while the rest of us are paying for the benefits via Medicare and Medicaid because they pay their employees so little the majority cannot afford the benefits. Every employer should either provide benefits that are worth something or pay a hefty fine to the state to help pay. Most of the Walton's billions are owed to the rest of us for taking care of their employees. Same with other companies....

Too Good to Play

Age and grade are general attempts to keep activities relatively equal and fair. This little fellow is apparently good at pitching. What fun is that for the rest of the players. The other team cannot hit so no one ever gets on base.  For his fellow teammates what fun is it to stand around doing nothing. The other guys never hit so there is nothing to do. Push him up a level or three.

If a fellow in the 3rd grade liked to play football and he was 5'10" and weighted 140lbs and hurt everyone he hit. Would you move him up or kick him off the team? If a fellow was great at Karate and injured other participants what would you do, kick him off the team or move him up.

Skirts too Short for School

Odd, listening to mothers saying their daughters should be allowed to wear short and tight skirts at school so the teachers and boys and (girls that like to look) can see their panties and if some mimic Paris or Britney, lots more... Cheerleaders are great to sit next to on away games. Short skirts are great for the boys to put their hands up.. The boy cheerleaders are the envy of every boy in high school when they get to stand under the cheerleaders and look right at the vagina. One of these days, maybe, people will recognize our society is all about sex but we still get upset when someone acts on the sights they see.

Obama and Hillary vs Kennedy and Johnson

Interesting that Obama chose for his Vice President an individual who 9,000 people voted for in the primaries and left on the sideline an individual who received the votes of 18,000,000. To bad we will never know the real reason. Likeability has nothing to do with it. John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson hated each other but they were mature enough to join ranks to win. We do not have that intelligent thinking today.

Too Muchers vs Not Have Enoughers

Hi Howard, just musing.....
Recent findings shed new light on the increasing unequal terrain of American society.  Starting at the top most would think or at least hope that the company leadership operated as a team or depending upon your point of view, a pack or gang---each getting his fair share of the take. Bu no, the rising tied of executive pay does not lift all yachts equally. The latest pay gap is the one between the CEO and his or possibly her third in command.
According a study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Federal Reserve thirty to forty years ago the CEOs of major companies received 80 percent more, on average, thn the third-highest-paid executives. By the early part of the twenty-first century the gap between the CRO and the third in command had swollen to 260 percent.
Now take a look at what is happening at the other end of the spectrum. In May 2007, a millionaire couple in a Long Island suburb was charged with keeping two Indonesian domestics as slaves for five years, during which the women were paid $100 a month, fed very little, forced to sleep on mats on the floor, and subjected to beatings, cigarette burns, and other torments.
This is not an isolated case. If the new top involves tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, a private jet, the new bottom is slavery. Some of America's slaves are captive domestics like the Indonesian women on Long Island. Others are sweatshop or restaurant workers or department store employees.
CEOs and slaves the two ends of the American economic spectrum. In universities you have top-ranked professors receiving salaries of several hundred thousand a year, augmented by consulting fees and earnings from their patents while at the other end you have as one story was reported a professor who commuted to his classes from a homeless shelter and others who moonlight as waitresses or cleaning ladies.
In the legal profession where law firm partners bill hundreds of dollars an hour have a group of "temp" lawyers working for less than $25 an hour. According to a story in American Lawyer, a legal temp at a major New York firm reported being "corralled in a windowless basement room littered with dead cockroaches" where six of the seven exist were blocked.
The CEO presumably depends on his fellow executives, as does the star professor relies on adjuncts to do his or her teaching, as does the law firm partner is enriched by the sweated labor of legal temps. For all we know some of those CEOs go home to sip their single malts in mahogany-walled dens that have been cleaned by domestic slaves.
Why do those at the top find it hard if not impossible to graciously acknowledge their dependency of the labor of others?
The New York Times pointed out that as long as the middle class is still trudging along and the poor are not starving in the streets what does it matter if the superrich are absorbing an ever-larger share of national income?
In the article the New York Times concluded that "whether Roger Clemens, who at one time earned $10,000 for every pitch he threw, earned 100 times or 200 times what the average middle class individual earned is not relevant. As long as the middle class individual's children have medical care and they go to decent schools it is not the rich people who are pulling away at the top that are the problem."
Well, yes they are. An excessively reimbursed over class can drag down an economy as surely as a swelling underclass.
The Clements example distracts from the reality that a great deal of the wealth at the top is built on the low wage labor of the poor. Take Wal-Mart, the largest private employer and premiere exploiter of the working class. Every year four or five of the people on the Forbes magazine's list of twenty riches Americans carry the surname Walton, meaning they are the children, nieces, and nephews of Sam Walton, Wal-Mart founder. Is it a coincidence their union-busting low-wage empire happens to have generated a family fortune that is approaching $100 million?
The over class bids up the price of goods that ordinary people also need---housing for example. The urban poor are being dispersed into overcrowded suburban ranch houses while the billionaires' horse farms displace the rural poor and the middle class. Similarly, the rich can swallow tuitions upwards of $50,000, making college education increasingly a privilege of the upper classes.
Hugh concentration of wealth at the top is routinely used to tilt the political process in favor of the wealthy. If we do not have universal health care insurance it may well turnout to be because Hillary Clinton is reported to be the number-one Congressional recipient of donations from the health care industry. Who demanded the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy---the AFL-CIO?
During buyouts and mergers executives receive hundreds of millions of dollars for failing while hundreds of thousands of the working class lose their jobs and benefits such as health care insurance.
The next "civil war" within the borders of the United States will be between the have-too-muchers and the not-have-enoughers. Wait and see.

Micro Credit II

In 2006 the Brookings Institution documented what they called the "ghetto tax," or higher cost of living in low-income urban neighborhoods. A few examples

Poor people are less likely to have bank accounts so they tend to cash their pay checks at check-cashing businesses which in cities surveyed charge $500 to $50 for a $500 check.

Low-income car buyers pay 2 percentage points more for a car loan than the more affluent buyers.

Low-income drivers pay more for car insurance. In New York , Baltimore , and Hartford , they pay an average $400 more a year to insure the exact same car and driver risk as wealthier drivers.

Poorer people pay an average of 1 percentage point more in mortgage interest.
Low-income folks are more likely to buy their furniture and appliances through pricey rent-to-own businesses. In Wisconsin , the study reports, a $200 rent-to-own TV set can cost $700 with interest included.

They are less likely to have access to large supermarkets and hence to rely on the more expensive and lower quality offerings of small grocery and convenience stores.

Without health insurance they use the emergency room which we all pay for.

Lacking the $1,000 for the first month's rent and security deposit for an apartment puts some in places like Days Inn for $40 a night.

Question:

Sevier County has plenty of working poor. Do you know if anyone has considered a subsidiary or stand alone office to provide Micro Credit type loans for them. I am sure everything is not rosy but there are success stories in poor countries.  Micro Credit could let families move from motels and shelters to apartments.

Fun Mountain, Arrowmont, Middle East, Gatlinburg,

TO: Gatlinburg, City Commissioners, City Manager
President, GGF
CC: The Mountain Press

Reference The Mountain Press, article, Sunday, August 24th "$500M 'Burg project in the works:" and editorial "After Arrowmont".

If everyone understands the Gatlinburg of the past is gone, never to return, too many variances, too many long term leases, too little looking forward, to much "me,me,me" events will be easier to absorb. I have suggested this before I will suggest it again, plan for Casinos. They will be here much sooner than most think. Any nondisclosure affected negotiations going on? Developers of this project will most probably want casinos and soon and they will have the money to influence Nashville, Sevier County, and Gatlinburg.

Last week The Mountain Press reported the consultants had presented their report for Priority Gatlinburg. Only the most naïve will believe you did not know about this project while going through the motions of the report. All of you might want to explain your participation in the Priority Gatlinburg, I understand not all City Commissioners were present. Why? Priority Gatlinburg is null and void this project will determine the direction and future of Gatlinburg.

It is easy to understand when The Mountain Press reported that with Camp Thunder in the middle why Mayor Mike Werner would not talk about it very much and that he is pleased, talk about an understatement he should be able to appreciate a bundle. Mayor AND business owner, it does not get much better than that. I did not notice any restaurants in the article are we protecting restaurants at the light 10 end of town? David Ogle's concerns are appropriate. When folks come to Gatlinburg why experience the traffic when they can get everything they want at light 3. The park end of Gatlinburg will begin to dry up, oops their goes those businesses..

Away from downtown Gatlinburg, Arrowmont is nothing more than a craft store that offers classes. How about Walter State making room in existing buildings or new buildings and Arrowmont can become a department in the college? Arrowmont should be able to endow itself.

I will close with a caution. $500 million are a lot of dollars so do not be fooled into believing once underway you or anyone will be able to stop progress. Who will let all those millions of dollars go away because Gatlinburg has a limit on the height of structures? You will have absentee owners dictating the future of Gatlinburg. Middle East folks are more familiar with sand than they are with mountains so do not expect anything or anyone to stand in their way. Do you suppose an oil well or a mosque would fit on the property? Local developers may find themselves steamrolled also. Be careful. Try to minimize greed and keep your cards close to your vest because once the cows leave the barn it is too late to close the door.

How about a little help here......

I'm sitting here on a Saturday morning watching Law and Order. There is nothing on the other channels except Obama/Biden and infomercials. When you think about it the news channels are infomercials for Obama.... Something happens and every news channel talks about the same thing, all day, all night. Bad week for Obama. First he waffles on Russia's invasion of Georgia and now he proves he is an agent of change by selecting as a running mate a man who has lost every attempt he has made to be president.

We are now seeing what Obama means when he talks about change. He avoids government regulation of the election process by limiting how much money he can spend and now he brings in a representative of the corruption and brokenness of Washington DC. Kind of like watching a train wreck, in slow motion... He is toast....

Teenagers and Violence

Am I the only one who wonders why society AND the media are in denial? Millions if not billions of dollars are spent each year on advertising television, movies, magazines, books, billboards, and on and on . As you remember, the media depends on advertising to expose people to products and counts on that exposure to result in those individuals purchasing the products.

At the same time that same society and media claim that continuous exposure to sex and violence through television, movies, magazines, books, billboards, and on and on has no affect on the children and adults that watch. On television and in movies life is cheap. In real life, life is cheap i.e.abortion and euthanasia

The only way women will be signed to make a movie if they are willing to take their clothes off. They also have to be willing to swallow the real star's tongue.

Being in denial helps no-one and leaves us all at risk.

China Rocking the Cradle

Since when is young an advantage in a sport that takes years of practice and experience? Can it be their athletes have more motivation or are they just better?

Why can a 15-year old Chinese girl diver make our divers look like they are doing cannonballs into the pool? Motivation or skill or natural talent? Chinese natural athletes? Hard to believe but apparently true.

We should stop whining and get back to training, real training, with high expectations and when they are not achieved, dump the athlete and go on to the next. Remember in the 70s or so Russia had a older woman(23 or so)  gymnast who made our younger smaller athletes drool? Why is it when the United States gets beat the enemy, opponent, must be too old or too young or too big or too small?

Rich control elections...

Senator Finney:

Reference The Mountain Press's article, Thursday August 21: headlined "Finney: 'Rich' control elections."

George Washington and Benjamin Franklin were the only persons who received no pay for serving. Franklin thought the honor of serving should be enough but the people thought that would mean only the rich could serve. In fact today, only the rich can run for office.

I believe you were wise to drop the recount effort. Politics is not a fun game, unless you win. The article mentioned you "loaned" your campaign $100,000, you asked people to give money to the campaign but you loan money? People suspect politicians who spend more to get a job that the job pays. I do not know what State Senator pays but my guess is more was spent to get the job than it pays.

You were using arguments that did not make sense. If the rich control the elections, having $100,000 liquid places you among the rich in Sevier County. If Parton has the influence you suggest he has why did the tax issue fail? No, while you may be every thing you say you are you voted against Sevier County and never successfully explained how your vote benefited Sevier County. Politically that was a mistake that could not be overcome.

Good luck in your future activities. Ronald Reagan would support Overbey, a fellow Republican, unless you believe a Democrat would be better for Sevier County or if you believe Sevier County deserves a democrat since it did not vote for you.

Michael Phelps

The advice I would give Michael Phelps is to get out of the public eye as soon as possible. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose. The media has found his father and now knows Michael does not get along with his father. Not a good role model. He is twenty-two or so years old, no college education, a mental disease ADD or the like, no skills except swimming, lots and lots of money, and a mother and sister or two who expect him to share with them. He will soon self destruct if he does not get out of the public eye. Warren Buffett lives in the same house for thirty years, Sam Walton drove a used truck. Phelps is talking about getting home to his cars (notice plural) and setting up his house, lots of furniture and pool and on and on.

Michael, get out of the public eye!!!!!!!!!!

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

The year is 1907, one hundred years ago......

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

I have decided to be a write-in candidate and this is my platform by Bill Cosby

(1) Press 1 for English is immediately banned. English is the official language; speak it or wait at the border until you can.

(2) We will immediately go into a two year isolationist posture to straighten out the country's attitude. NO imports, no exports. We will use the 'Walmart' policy, 'If we ain't got it, you don't need it.'

(3) When imports are allowed, there will be a 100% import tax on it.

3rd in line to be President

Being aware of who is 3rd in line to be President might help the voters decide who they want to represent them in the House or Representatives.

Final Report for Priority Gatlinburg

TO: City Manager,
      City Commissioners,
CC: President, GGF:

Reference today's The Mountain Press headline "Opinion: Change takes leaders"

Being permitted to do anything one wants to do with ones property has never been as American as apple pie. Being a good neighbor is as American as apple pie. Robert Frost wrote in his poem The Wall "Good fences make good neighbors." Good neighbors do not place a garbage dump next to their neighbor's house and your right to burn trash ends where my nose begins. As leaders, I presume you received a preliminary report and challenged the apple pie comment.

What encourages you to believe you are different leaders now than you were before the report? Leaders do not need to hide behind consultants telling them what they already know. Leaders would have been following the consultant's recommendations before they were recommendations because they are just common sense.

Geoff Wolpert is quoted in today's article, "If we're going to make our community a certain way, we have to require it to be that way." OK, now what does that mean?

Jim Kennedy is reported to have said "the priorities of the project would require that city officials resolve to deal with the issue of public improvements versus private ownership." You did not already know that? What we know is that neither you nor your predecessors have shown a willingness to do so.

The reason downtown Gatlinburg is the way it is, is unrealistically high lease prices subsidized by underpaid employees and taxpayers. Geoff Wolpert is reported to have said a detailed plan will get everyone onboard. Did anyone check his breath? Mayor Mike Werner is reported to have said, the key will be showing (the land and business owners) there is a benefit in going along with the plan, even if it requires an investment or a sacrifice to making it happen. You needed a consulting firm to tell you that? Why haven't you already shown the benefit?

If you want anyone to believe you are serious, and want business owners and land owners to compromise you can begin by removing the Hard Rock Café guitar that extends over the sidewalk. That is an example of how the old boy/girl network works. Show us the network is a thing of the past and the granting of variances is dead. My guess is the people are watching to see something change....

Olympic Athletes

The Olympics are all about money. Olympic participants should repay any assistance provided by the citizens of the United States. The Olympics are nothing more than the athletic version of the Cold War. If the athlete wins they will have received lots of money so they can afford to repay the loan. Anyone who does not win should not have been sent.

What is Good for the Goose is Good for the Gander

Using as an excuse a desire to protect Russian citizens, Russia attacks Georgia. Our leaders complain that Russia invaded a sovereign country. What did the United States do when we invaded Iraq. We were not protecting American citizens we were satisfying Georges lust for revenge on Sadaam. George's venting has cost thousands of lives. He will be eligible for a Crimes Against Humanity trial. Should be interesting....

Hillary Not Out Yet

What do you think? Hillary will be nominated at the convention. Some delegates, super or otherwise, refrain from voting in the first ballot. Obama does not get a majority. On ballot #2 when delegates can vote for whomever they like and Hillary gets a majority and Obama goes home. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson jump for joy.

The Obama followers stay home and McCain becomes President although everyone whoever was in the military knows being a 1st Lieutenant qualifies you for NOTHING!!

Al and Jesse continue to whine the government is white. If Obama becomes President Al and Jesse lose their income. They will no longer be THE black leader, Obama will be although he is one half white and has not slave blood in him.....

Cannot be Trusted

I know you do not like to read things like this but the Chinese, the Russians, and any country where the people are raised without God cannot be trusted. They have no Christian morals, ethics and character. They may look like us but they do not think like us. For them anything goes piracy; deception. cheating.

If I had the authority I would check all electronics involved in determining Olympic winners of events. This would include the wiring in the "touch" panels in the swimming pools to see if the response could be delayed if the swimmer is not Chinese. I would check all gymnastic equipment to see if anything has been put on the surface, rings, bars, balance beam, everything. Have you noticed a trend in winners coming from certain lanes? Track and field equipment also should be checked. Are the balls and spears the Chinese throw the same as the others? Check everything............Clothes everything...

People raised without God are the same as the people were before Jesus lived was crucified, rose from the dead and the returned to His father where he lives today looking at how the United States tries to deny Him.

Why Tennis

Can someone explain why Tennis is in the Olympics? There are international matches almost every week and now they are in the Olympics. No wonder no one watches......

Soccer? Volleyball? Basketball? What is that sport that is similar to Lacross but no stick?

Why do the men wear shirts and the women wear bikinis?

Men and women do not compete in physical sports because.......

If the men are stronger, faster, more exciting to watch why should anyone watch the women play an inferior kind of volleyball? One reason would be to see more skin and see how close to the vital areas you can see.

The men in ice skating wear more clothes than the women but the women are more popular. Why? More skin, more leg, more crotch, and nice short skirts to look up. Watch the men and the women and consider most of the display is to show the woman's crotch. They swirl around so everyone gets to see.

Once you separate men and women in sports you accept one is superior than the other. The inferior has to do something to get an audience.....With women it is displaying their body with men it is jumping higher and running faster. Depends on the activity which one will attract more viewers.

Put long pants and a t-shirt on the women volleyball players and prove my point. The same with ice skating. Same with golf.

Pornography and Voyeurism - Prime Time

There are many "definitions" of the term pornography. "Arousal of prurient interests" "intended primarily to arouse sexual interests" you get the idea.

Another term voyeur has an interesting definition: a person who has an exaggerated interest in viewing persons who are disrobing, engaged in sexual activity, again, you get the idea.

Now can you explain why the producers of television sitcoms and movies feel it is necessary that their viewers watch couples swallowing each others tongue? Watching the James Bond girls half or totally nude? The hero overpowering the girl encourages rape and abuse. If it does not, why not?

Prime time shows are pornographic and encourage voyeurism. No wonder our society is going to hell...

No Team Sports in the Olympics

Team sports have no place in the Olympics. The Olympics are the athletic version of the Cold War. Each country is there to prove they are superior. Why else a medal count? Team sports take too long to complete, besides they have other international opportunities. Volleyball? Basketball? Baseball? Softball? BORING!!! When will NASCAR become an Olympic competition?

Chad Pennington

Chad Pennington being the most popular person in the Jets' locker room says a lot about the Jets. What has Pennington done for the Jets? He is a professional athlete. He is paid to deliver. He failed, again and again and again....

Bernie Mac

The "unexpected" death of Bernie Mac appears to be another example of hospital-failure. A sick person goes to the hospital and becomes sicker and then becomes dead. When a person goes to the hospital their family and friends must go with them to protect them from the hospital staff.

Overworked and underpaid nurses hesitant to call an overworked and underpaid doctor in on their day off. Waiting to see if the patient improves or digresses. If we think medical care is expensive now just wait until it is free....

Joey Cheek

Joey Cheek was not going to China to watch the olympics he was going to China to support his "cause" and try to force the Chinese government to do things his way. Hurray for the courage of the Chinese government to keep troublemakers out of their country. Oh, if only our government would do the same....

Strangely Silent?

Have you noticed, no politician, including Obama and McCain, has expressed moral indignation concerning Edwards' tryst and lying? Why, you ask? They all do the same thing. Politicians are like rock stars to the mentally and morally lacking female groupies besides all politicians are unethical, immoral, and dishonest. They have to be that is the job.... Why else pay $1 billion to get a job that pays around $300,000 a year. Want to meet chicks run for office, any office...

Favre

Remember Favre tearly re-retiring last spring? Now he wants to play? The first time he gets hit whereever he plays we probably will not hear more from him. Have you wondered why a millionaire does not want to stay home with his wife and sick son? Most men if given the opportunity would jump at the chance at staying home with his family especially when one of them has major problems. Apparently Favre craves the NFL groupees a little longer....

Mary-Kate Olsen

When people such as Mary-Kate Olsen depend on the 5th amendment or demand immunity they government is prohibited from considering them guilty of any crime but not the public. We are free to consider Ms Olsen a criminal which she freely admits she is by her lack of willingness to help the police.

Nascar and the Brickyard

Nascar owes those who had tickets at Indianapolis last week. The fans paid to see a race and saw an embarassment. Anyone with a ticket should be given a free ticket for next year's race. Hopefully some lawyer will get a class action against Nascar.
