The Repubs Not Doing So Well

So far the repubs are a bust. So what if the House wants to change Obamacare, the senate is what counts. So Obamacare will stay but the repubs in the house can claim opposition. Big deal with no results. Next the repubs were against helping the unemployed but wanted to continue with a tax break for the rich and famous, another repub mistake. I would think the repubs would have wanted to extend unemployment since their rich friends sent the jobs off shore and received millions in bonuses for doing just that. So far Obama is a shoe-in for 2012. As I mentioned before the repubs have no clue. I should say Boner looked prettier than Pelosi sitting behind our leader. Where does he get his tan? Either he weekends in the Bahamas or he has a tanning machine in his office, what do you think?

Gun Control Can't Work

How do the folks expect gun control to work when they cannot get rid of the "undocumented" and the gun owners are with them on that one.

Health Care and Automobile Manufacturers

How different would the market for automobiles have developed if a third party paid 80 percent of the cost of new cars. . . . The insurance would have influenced both the number and type of cars people bought. People would replace cars more often, they would buy higher quality cars. A BWM or Mercedes would cost buyers little more than a Chevy or Ford, sales of luxury cars would go up. Car manufacturers would have focused on product development, bigger engines and luxuries rather than cost reducing manufacturing changes. . .




Controlling health care costs might mean doing away with insurance. The medical industry would have to minimize costs like other industries do and price their products and service so the customer can afford to buy.

Before sending our military off to war "we the people" should insist our government show the military enough respect to declare war. Then those of us left behind should "feel" the war. A draft should be initiated to include men and women up to age of the oldest person engaged in the war. Additional taxes should be implemented and rationing should begin. We should pay as we go. If we cannot pay for it now then we should not start wars. Our current practice of sending our military off to die while we continue life as usual is at the very least insulting. When our military is sent to war every person living in the United States should share the pain.

One of the problems is that republicans have no clue. 

In the standoff involving tax cuts and unemployment the republicans came off with not wanting to help the unemployed while insisting on continuing tax cuts for the very very very rich. Now Obama on the other hand came across as wanting to continue the tax cuts to the middle income AND help the unemployed. Obama and the democrats won that skirmish and will get a big ATTABOY come the 2010 election. 

The republicans have got to wake up or Obama will continue serving the middle and lower income classes and those unemployed because the very very very rich have sent the jobs overseas and the republicans will continue to brown-nose the very very very rich at the expense of the middle and lower income people and those unemployed. This was not a good start. 

Also the agreement adds to the deficit after the republicans promised to reduce the deficit if they were allowed to do favors for the very very very rich to whom they will look for consulting jobs after they retire with a lucrative retirement thus becoming one of the very very very rich.

We knew that if we won the Democrat  nomination, we were likely going to cruise our way to the White  House and that is exactly what we  did.    But after Obama was sworn in, things  began to change?   A: Almost immediately. Obama loved to  campaign. He clearly didnt like the work of being President  though, and that attitude was felt by the entire White House staff  within weeks after the inauguration. Obama the tireless, hard  working candidate became a very tepid personality to us. And the  few news stories that did come out against him were the only  things he seemed to care about. He absolutely obsesses over Fox  News. For being so successful, Barack Obama is incredibly  thin-skinned. He takes everything very  personally.    And you state he despises Joe  Biden?   A: Oh yeah.. That is very well known in the  White House. Obama chose Biden for one reason to have an older  white guy with some international policy credentials. Period. If  Biden has all of this international experience that Obama found so  valuable, why has he buried him under the pile of crap that became  the stimulus bill? What does Joe Biden know about budgets and  economics? Not much but Obama didnt care. Give Joe a job and  get him the hell out of my hair that pretty much sums up the  presidents feelings toward Joe  Biden.    What about Hillary  Clinton?   A: Obama is scared to death of Hillary. He  doesn't trust her obsesses over her almost as much as he does  Fox News. He respects her though, which might be why he fears her  so much as well. He talks the game, but when it comes down to it,  she has played the game on a far tougher level than he has, and  Obama knows that.    How about Bill  Clinton?   A: I never heard Obama say anything about Bill  Clinton personally, though I was told he has cracked a few jokes  about the former president since getting into the White House. I  have heard that Bill Clinton does not like Barack Obama. That  really started when Obama played the race card against him during  the primary campaign. Apparently  Clinton  was apoplectic over  that and still hasnt gotten over it. If there is one thing I have  learned in this town dont make an enemy of Bill  Clinton.    So if Obama doesn't appear  interested in the job of president, what does he do day after  day?   A: Well, he takes his meetings just like any  other president would, though even then, he seems to lack a  certain focus and on a few occasions, actually leaves with the  directive that be given a summary of the meeting at a later date.  I hear he plays a lot of golf, and watches a lot of television  ESPN mainly.. Ill tell you this if you want to see President  Obama get excited about a conversation, turn it to sports. That  gets him interested. You start talking about Congress, or some  policy, and he just kinda turns off. Its really very strange. I  mean, we were all led to believe that this guy was some kind of  intellectual giant, right? Ivy League and all that. Well, that is  not what I saw. Barack Obama doesnt have a whole lot of  intellectual curiosity. When he is off script, he is what I call a  real slow talker. Lots of ummms, and lots of time in between  answers where you can almost see the little wheel in his head  turning very slowly. I am not going to say the president is a dumb  man, because he is not, but yeah, there was a definite letdown  when you actually hear him talking without the  script.    That sounds like you are calling  Obama stupid to me.   A: No I am not going to call him stupid. He  just doesn't strike me as particularly smart. Bill Clinton is a  smart guy he would run intellectual circles around Barack Obama.  And Bill Clinton loved the politics of being president. Obama  seems to think he shouldn't have to be bothered, which has created  a considerable amount of conflict among his  staff.    So how bad are things at the White  House these days?   A: I don't know about right now, because I  have not been there in over a month. But I still hear things, and  I know what it was like when I left. Its not good. As bad as it  might look to voters based on what they do know, its much worse.  The infighting is off the charts. You got a Chief of Staff who  despises cabinet members, advisors who despise the Chief of Staff,  a President and First Lady having their own  issues    Come again what about the First  Lady?   A: (The insider takes a deep  breath) Ok, look, just like  any other marriage, folks have issues. The Obama's are no  different, except of course they are very high profile. I was told  they were having issues before the campaign, and they have even  more issues now. Maybe that is why Obama seems so detached not  so much the stress of the White House, but the stress of personal  issues. I can certainly relate to that kind of  situation.    Care to clarify some more on the  Obama marriage?   A: No. That is all I will say about that.  Don't ask again.    Ok, back to President Obama then. In  just a few words, how would you describe him these  days?   A: Like I said, its been a while since I was  last at the White House, but I don't have a problem saying that  the president is losing it. I don't mean he is like losing his  mind. I mean to say that he is losing whatever spark he had during  the campaign. When you take away the crowds, Obama gets noticeably  smaller. He shrinks up inside of himself. He just doesn't seem to  have the confidence to do the job of President, and its getting  worse and worse. Case in point just a few days before I left, I  saw first hand the President of the United  States  yelling at a member  of his staff. He was yelling like a spoiled child. And then he  pouted for several moments after. I wish I was kidding, or  exaggerating, but I am not. The President of the   United  States threw a temper tantrum.  The jobs reports are always setting him off, and he is getting  increasingly conspiratorial over the unemployment numbers. I never  heard it myself, but was told that Obama thinks the banking system  is out to get him now. That they and the big industries are making  him pay for trying to regulate them more. That is the frame of  mind the President is in these days. And you know what? Maybe he  is right, who knows?    Will Obama run again in  2012?   A: I don't know. That subject was never  brought up again after 2008, at least not around me. If he does, I  think it would have more to do with allowing him another year and  a half of campaigning again. He just loves it so much. He really  needs the crowds, the cheering, the support of the  people.    Can he win in  2012?   A: Oh absolutely. Who else campaigns as well  as Barack Obama? Nobody. What politician is more loved and  supported by the media? Nobody. I don't see the Republicans  offering up a candidate as powerful as Obama. I mean Sarah Palin?  Really? Obama would defeat her by a 20 point landslide! Romney?  The Republicans will enjoy these midterm elections, but 2012 is  Obamas year if he chooses to run again. As a president, Obama has  many flaws, but as a candidate, he is near  flawless.    But would another four years of an Obama  presidency be the best thing for America?   A: (Long pause) Now that is a much more  interesting question right there, and a question I think more and  more Democrat Party insiders are asking themselves these days,  myself included. I am going to come right out and say it No.  Obama is not up to the job of being president. He simply doesn't  seem to care about the work involved. You want to know what? Obama  is lazy. He really is. And it is getting worse and worse. Would  another four years of Obama be the best thing for  America? No it would  not. What this country needs is a president who is focused on the  job more than on themselves. Obama is not that individual. I  actually hope he doesn't run again. Looking back, as much fun as  the campaign in 2008 was, Hillary Clinton should have been the  nominee. Hillary was ready to be president. Obama was not ready.  He had never lost a campaign. Everything was handed to him. He  doesn't really understand the idea of work real, hard, get your  heart and soul into it work. And frankly, that is very  disappointing to a whole lot of  us.

DTDT or What?

As I cogitate on the history of our country it appears to be a pattern that whenever the public did not and does not like someone they declare it a non-entity. Examples are the Indians, Negroes, unborn babies and most recently homosexuals.

The public, as in the majority, has never been a reliable group to determine what is right i,e, tghe examples above. And Christians have forfeited our right to be indignant about homosexuals due to our acceptance of adultery, also a violation of God's laws. Adultery is wrong only because God says it is, now. In the OT times God accepted adultery as a way of life. Go figure. In fact due to the stubbornness of HIS people HE changed the rules. Jesus said he did. But I digress.

Why would we let the government prohibit people who are attracted to the same gender as themselves from protecting our country?And asking the military to vote on their preference is ludicrous. When did the military become a democracy?

What both the military and our courageous Representatives and Senators were looking and hoping for was a court decision that they could blame for having to repeal DADT. Cowards to say the least and hypocrites at best.

It is more than past time to get governments out of the sex lives of the citizens. If we continue to permit government interference, even though we agree with them, THIS time, wait and you will find you and your preferences on the next federal or state hit list. It is not governments business to determine who may and may not commit to each other.

The State of the Groundhog

This next year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address occur on the same day.  As Air America Radio pointed out, "It is an ironic juxtaposition of events; one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication whilethe other has something to do with a groundhog."

You fail to mention the judge who found the one point is a republican appointee as well as a consultant with the republican party to overthrow the health care bill. You fail to mention two other judges, who happen to be democratic appointees found the same area constitutional.

 

The problem is the uninsured are receiving health care today and the insured are paying for them. While the Walton family fortune approaches $100 billion half their employees do not have health care insurance but are receiving health care as I mentioned above. The insured taxpayers are subsidizing the WalMart corporation One of three things must happen:

 

1) every individual must be required to purchase health insurance or

2) every corporation must provide health care insurance for all of their workers, fulltime, parttime, contract, or

3) Uninsured people must not receive health care treatment even if it means they die or suffer. Whether they be babies, children, or adults.

 

It seems to me option #1 is the best option.

 

If you want the voter to believe anything you say you must be sure to give all pertinant facts.

Support for Health Care Law Drops This week, U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson in Virginia declared a central provision of the law in the health care legislation requiring that individuals obtain health insurance by 2014 is unconstitutional.  This judge determined that this health care law went too far and Congress must push forward to repeal the Democrats health care law and replace it with commonsense – and constitutional – legislation that aims at lowering health care costs. While this ruling is a rejection of the health care law, the President and his supporters are focused on appealing the decision, so the case is far from over.  Still, this is further evidence the health care legislation was rushed through Congress and is very flawed. Through the individual mandate, the federal government is literally forcing all Americans to buy health insurance.  Even worse, this legislation gives the federal government the right to decide what is "acceptable" coverage for individuals.  Those who do not meet these standards will be taxed or penalized. Ultimately, the Supreme Court will decide if government can force individuals to buy a private product or be penalized for not doing so.  A Wall Street Journal editorial that addresses this ruling points out that: "If government can punish citizens for in essence doing nothing, then what is left of the core constitutional principle of limited and enumerated government powers?" For those who are already covered, the health care law allows Americans to keep their health care coverage – so long as their health care plan doesn't make any significant changes.  But the reality is, health care plans constantly change out of necessity, and now when they change, Americans will be at risk of losing their existing health care plan – like it or not.  The promise that Americans could keep their existing insurance is temporary, at best. A Washington Post/ABC poll this week shows the American people reject the Democrats health care law, with approval ratings hitting a new record low.  Fifty-three percent of the respondents said they were opposed to the health care legislation.  In a Rasmussen poll, sixty percent of the respondents want the health care bill repealed.  The report goes on to explain: "Most voters have favored repeal of the law every week since it was passed and support for repeal has now inched up to its highest level since mid-September."  The bottom line is, the more people hear about the details, the less they like this bill. Our Leaders Should Lead by Example

During these hard economic times our government should lead by example. Everyone in the Legislative and Executive branches take a pay cut. Everyone gives up 15% and the top 4 or 5 levels give up an additional 25%? When the economy is back they get back what they gave up.

What Can or Should We Do. . .

To answer the question about what can or should we do about what is going on in our country. The answer depends on why God blesses you. Does he bless you so you can go on vacations and have expensive cars, large houses etc or so you can give more, so you can help others more.

 

Our culture, the culture of capitalism, more for me, less for you, has diverted Christians from working on their purpose. We shrug off the question what would Jesus do saying he does not want us to be poor etc. If we were to identify a place in the world that would be difficult for us to survive we most probably would avoid it. Considering Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven" why would any Christian want to be rich? 

 

Paul told Timothy: "I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,  for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.  This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,  who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time." 

 

To me that says it is good and pleasing in the sight of God that we lead peaceful, quiet lives because he desires all people to be saved, not so we can have comfortable lives and go on great vacations, live in large homes, buy nice cars etc. Our culture tells us differently and in that way our culture has diverted us from our purpose.

 

What should we do? What should Christians do?  Help the people to come to the knowledge of the truth would be a good start and stop looking to our own pleasures, security, comforts. Paul told Timothy "whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin" what part don't Christians undrstand?

If we are using our ambassadors to spy we are doing what every other country does. With "leaks" like this wars will not be so easy to start. Mrs Clinton is probably more correct that you want to believe when she said one of her counterparts said "Don't worry, you should hear what we say about you."

Federal Ratio

The Federal Ratio" the 3/5ths rule of slaves had more of an affect than most people think. 

Recently I read a book on the writing of the Constitution in 1787. The south would not have signed the Constitution unless they were allowed to continue to own and bring in additional slaves. A white man in South who owned 5 slaves had in affect his vote plus 3 while a white man in New York had 1 vote. This edge came from the number of representatives allowed per state. 

The affect: during the 62 years between Washington's election and the Compromise of 1850, slaveholders controlled the presidency for 50 years, the Speaker's chair for 41 years, the Chairmanship of the Ways and Means committee for 42 years. The only men to be reelected president Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, and Jackson were all slaveholders. The men who sat in the Speaker's chair the longest, Henry Clay, Andrew Stevenson,k and Nathaniel Macon, were slave holders. 18 out of the 30 Supreme Court justices were slaveholders. Seven justices delivered the majority opinion in the Dred Scott decision and a majority were slaveholders. Gives more reason for the North to want to be rid of slaves.  And gives additional reason for the South to have wanted to keep their slaves and the Federal Ration.

We the People are Responsible

In a country of the people, for the people, and by the people who is ultimately responsible? The government we elect or the people who elected and tolerate them.

The person who hires someone to commit an illegal act is as guilty as the person committing the act. The citizens of the United States are as guilty as the leaders we elect. We are all targets of the enemy. That is why everyone needs to vote responsibly and that means informed. Ignorance is no excuse, our laws support that idea also. We all are as responsible as our leaders for there stupidity and we are easier to kill. 

Foreign Policy

No one can successfully lead this country except from the middle. our elected officials do not have a clue. If they did they would have chosen different leadership. Homefully Boner understands but he most likely does not. When Newt was the man he had no clue so we will just have to wait and see.
 
Where I disagree with those calling themselves conservatives is the United States has made some pretty stupid decisions. While we did not deserve it our leaders should have seen it coming the 9/11 attack. The United States cannot and should not export its culture or its military to other countries. How would we like a nice big flashing electric sign in Thailand language that says "Our Hot Dogs are Real Dogs?" How would we like a sign from India that says "Cows are Holy, Eat Chicken?" How would like a Iranian military base just outside of Knoxville? So, I do not blame the bad guys as much as I blame us. We can expect more and since we know better we will now deserve it.

 

And do not forget, the primary cause of death for the "heroes" was faulty communication gear caused by the NYC taxpayers not willing to pay for better ones. If its not for our stupidity the death toll would have been less than it was.

 

Ethics in Government

Individuals in government know, without being told, if they do something to benefit a corporation they can depend on that corporation showing their appreciation with campaign contributions or jobs. This permits plausible deniability but is still unethical and immoral. If you do something that benefits me I will repay the favor without you asking and without me saying anything to you. Our government has been so corrupt for so long we are forgetting what ethics and honesty in government looks like.

George's Admissions

Apparently in his book George admits or confesses to authorizing torture which is a violation of the Geneva Convention. Some countries are calling for his being brought up on Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes. Should be interesting. Apparently we tried people for that same crime.

 

The problem George has is we as a country agreed to not torture prisoners or war. George violated an agreement the United States had made and the United States said it was willing for our leaders to be punished if they violated such agreements. One of the last things Bill Clinton signed before he turned the reigns of power over to George was an agreement which we agreed to turn our leaders over to such powers for prosecution.  Obama has to be careful because in Afghanistan he could find himself in the same pickel.

Not a Christian Nation

Neither the colonies nor the United States was ever a Christian nation and we are not today. If we were was, it owning human beings like property that exhibited our Christianity? Do black people still rate at 3/5ths of us white guys? Or was it our habit of murdering all the natives, men, women, and children we found and stealing their property? Killing those children may have set God against us. Didn't Jesus say something about having a millstone around our neck would be better than doing what we did? I believe his name was Standing Bear. He went all the way to the Supreme Court to have himself declared a human being. That was in 1903. To the Supreme Court means the system fought him all the way. So for the first 127 years of our existence our Christianity was exhibited by our acceptance that the Native Americans were not human beings.

We have finally won. We should be ecstatic. The government finally agrees with us. Christ is not in Christmas and never was. Thank God for Obama's fine leadership in this area. Do we disagree with him or is it we do not want him agreeing with us?

NFL and Spearing

Hitting with the helmet used to be "Spearing" and was illegal. These fellows are professionals. When their is helmet to helmet contact it is intentional every time. Anyone doubting that is naive. I saw a headline something about doubts within the Republican party about repealing Obama care. The Republicans have not a clue so do not be like those Obama supporters who are disappointed in their boy, do not expect anything from the Republicans. Government is government no matter the party. Obama is not the blame for Obama care, everyone who voted for anyone other than McCain is responsible for Obama care. I have not looked but my guess is split votes between T-Party and Republicans let the Dems keep seats in the House and Senate. Morons are morons, no matter the party.

Violent Video Games vs Pornography

 

If we cannot make laws prohibiting violent video games on the grounds of Free-Speech then prohibiting pornography is also unconstitutional. If you do not believe viewing violent video games affects people why do you sell commercial time in or on your media?

Natural Law

I read a book on Job by Wayne Jackson. You have to remember Wayne Jackson has a good reputation among Churches of Christ. On the subject of God intervening in Natural Law he writes: Do you realize what sort of world this would be if God directly intervened, suspending His natural laws, each time one of His creatures encountered a life-threatening situation? This would render the law system of our planet completely undependable and make life a sphere of hopeless confusion. Such a haphazard system, in fact, would argue more for atheism that it would for theism. He does not address the issue Christians practice and that is asking God to intervene and provide, security, health, and comfort.

If you think that is useless how about: After debating the issue for five minutes in 2009, the Common Council in Madison Wisconsin voted to make the pink plastic flamingo its official city bird. So when you are in Madison no wise cracks concerning pink plastic flamingos. Or  maybe this one, hang gliding is banned at national parks in Ethiopia to prevent stampedes. Antelope often mistake the contraptions for vultures. So if you were thinking of going hang gliding in Ethiopia, you should think again.

Profiling

Has it occurred to you that no one complains when people are racially and ethnically profiled for acting parts in commercials, movies, television, etc but it is illegal to do the same profiling to protect our lives. Who is crazy?

Government Benefits

The other day I was watching a group of Mexicans and I got to thinking, why does anyone care if they are here legally or illegally? My conclusion is those of us already here are concerned the new folks will get the same benefits from the Federal and State governments that WE get. The solution is to eliminate all benefits to anyone from any government.

 

On the subject of gays and lesbians marrying what business is it of anyone if two people want to commit to each other regardless of gender? Could it be we do not want gays and lesbians to enjoy those benefits given to US, the straight people, by Federal and State governments? The solution is to eliminate all benefits to anyone from any government. Also get governments out of the marriage business.

 

Prior to our forefathers and their forefathers coming to North America how did the Native Americans protect their borders? They either killed strangers or accepted them. They had no laws to prohibit immigrants. If they were strong enough they could protect their borders. If they were not they did not.  As we are told, might makes right.

 

During the time of our forefathers how did they protect their borders? They did not. If you could get here you could get in. Laws abounded governing what could be imported and exported but none for people coming here on their own.  Why do we want to protect our borders? Could it be we don't want strangers receiving the same benefits we "natives" already receive from our Federal and State governments? Could the solution be to eliminate all benefits to anyone from any government?

 

We have become slaves to our Federal and State governments. We need to reduce both drastically and soon.

Do you know the purpose for having the government decide who can marry? Watching a documentary on things distilled I wonder why the government decides who can make and sell some things such as liquor but anyone can make beer and wine. Surely taxes are the reason. What do you think?

Don't Ask Don't Tell

Have you ever wondered what's the problem with homosexuals in the military? Are those in favor with Don't Ask Don't Tell upset about the straight military having to be in the showers with homosexuals? Can you imagine how impressive a battalion of homosexuals would look? Their uniforms would be the stylish and colorful. Can you imagine how well they would eat. Their mess hall would be decorated and the food gourmet. I don't see the problem do you? Bullying

CNN's series of programs on the subject of bullying is nothing more than spreading the homosexual agenda. Bullying is rampant and raises its head in many forms such as spousal abuse, child abuse, sexual harassment. Many television programs are established on the anchor of bullying such as court room shows such as Judge Judy, American Idol and the like. Apparently the viewers like to see people abused and mistreated who are helpless to defend themselves.

 

AndersonCooper360 criticises  children for not standing up to the bully. Is he crazy? A non violent child is going to confront a violent bully. Adults don't do that let alone a child. If bullying would be treated as a felony these bullies could be put into prison environments where they will meet some real bullies. If I was on the jury I would not vote to convict a wife for killing her abusing husband nor would I vote to convict the victim of bullying of killing the bully.

Keeping them Honest is an Already Known

It is nice that AndersonCooper 360 and others report on the elections and proving my point that ALL politicians at ALL levels are dishonest, immoral, and unethical. They will take care of themselves first, those who give them money second and last and by all means least the voter. Let's get away from their dishonesty, immorality and lack of ethics and look at their platforms. You cannot believe anything ANY politician says only what they DO.

School Bullies

Listening to the various discussions in the media concerning school children being bullied and who should step in and when one thing quickly comes to mind. Children as well as adults are mostly non-violent and will not, cannot step into a confrontational situation. The key will be for the authorities whoever they are to get involved immediately. Otherwise you are going to see the 2nd amendment get involved.

Re: Specific Example

Last night the reverend spoke on the subject of prayer.  He mentioned it was ok to pray for sick. Do you know of any specific place in the bible where we are encouraged to pray for the sick and expect God to heal them in response to our prayer?

Perhaps James 5:13-16, but each version has a different slant on these verses. Brother Woods and others of our common belief disregard these verses as applying only to the first century. God gave Hezekiah 15 additional years. Not sure this should be applied to us today.

If Hezekiah had died as scheduled there would not have been a Manassa. If James was meant for us wouldn't you expect Paul to have called the elders to heal Timothy or even himself? There are no examples in the NT of Christians praying for healing so I wonder why we do it especially why we make it our primary requests of God. To me, the way I read it, James is a guarantee and does not allow for everyone has to die. I believe through praying for healing we learn that God does not ever say yes and therefore we do not expect anything. I think it makes us weak. If we were to ask what God has done for us we have nothing to say.

2nd Amendment

The question should not be what the 2nd amendment says the question should be what gives the government the right to supervise the citizens and to control what they may possess and what they may not possess. The citizens of this country have become too accustomed to government interference they do not recognize it anymore. We tolerate surveillance, we tolerate government deciding who can and cannot marry, we tolerate and out of control IRS, we tolerate Blackwater patrolling the streets of New Orleans, we tolerate the government control of who can and cannot use the airwaves, who can and cannot approve abortions, we tolerate government controlling the healthiness of our food, we tolerate government deciding what medicines we can us or not, we tolerate the government deciding what is a legal and what is an illegal drug. Because we like one or more we let the government control our lives.

Bush to be Stripped of the Heisman?

The problem as I see it is there should be no individual awards in a team sport. There is no one individual who is the best football player. If it were not for the rest of the members on the team doing their jobs no one looks good. If the defense fails no offensive player will win the overall award. So it takes the TEAM!

As 911 Approaches Lessons we should have learned

What happened on 911 was we learned how if felt when we dropped bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki civilians, how it felt when we carpet bombed German civilians, how it feels when we bomb civilian areas in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq to get the bad guys who are hiding in those areas. Many of the first responders died due to faulty equipment which the city of NY provided.

What 911 should have taught us is that we are not better than anyone. We have our way of life and we should let others live as they want to. Come home, Mr President, and let the world alone.
