In the middle of the night you hear someone walking in the hall. The first thing you think of is to get your gun. You go to the hall and shoot in the dark without identifying the target. You kill you fiancee. You kill a person you knew was in the house. Having someone stay in your house and you shoot them in the dark? My guess is he shot the person he meant to shoot.
